Teen Photographic Workshop: Capturing Light Through the Lens
A creative, hands-on photography adventure for teens who want to explore, experiment and see the world differently.
What It’s All About
Light is the magic behind every photograph. In this workshop, teens will discover how light works, how cameras capture it, and how simple choices—like ISO, shutter speed and aperture—can completely change the look and feel of an image. Through guided experiments, outdoor shooting and creative challenges, they’ll learn to turn everyday moments into visual stories.
What We’ll Do
Light Experiments
Explore shadows, reflections, angles, contrasts and shifting light while discovering how adjusting ISO, speed and aperture changes brightness, mood and sharpness.
Photo Safari: Chasing Light
Head outdoors to capture soft and harsh light, natural and artificial light, silhouettes and reflections. Teens will experiment with real-time changes to shutter speed, ISO and aperture to freeze motion, blur movement, or create dramatic depth.
Creative Prompts
Find dramatic shadows, capture unexpected light sources, shoot against the sun and create images that express mood and meaning. Teens will play with different ISO levels, wide vs narrow apertures and fast vs slow shutter speeds to see how each combination transforms their photos.
Share and Reflect
Share a favourite shot, give it a title, and discuss how choices in light, exposure, ISO, speed and aperture shaped the final image.
Showcase
All photos will be curated into an online digital gallery highlighting each teen’s creative perspective.
